Oklahoma has always been known for its lucrativity and potential. Since the early days of American settlement, open land and natural resources have magnetized many to The Sooner State; causing an unprecedented rush of habitants. Now, in 2019, a similar hysteria is transpiring. Where once it was settlers racing into OKC, now it is thousands of listeners; and instead of land and resources, they have their sights set on a new, particular treasure: NOHEZZO. Repping Oklahoma City, this Hip-Hop upstart is making a grandiose impact on the Southern rap circuit; and his slow-burning “My Soul” single is definite proof. Already, the GUAPKIDQ-produced banger has netted over one-hundred thousand views on its Youtube music video. Every last count can be attributed to NOHEZZO’s impeccable performance on both the visual and song itself. Yes, the rapper delivers an enthralling, action-packed video for the record; however, it would be nothing without the music that backs it. Embraced by a patient, almost R&B-esque instrumental, NOHEZZO lyrically shows out. He swags the beat with a flow and inflection reminiscent of 6LACK, chronicling his myriad experiences in those OKC streets. With every turn of a verse, and every flutter of the beat’s kick, hat and snap, NOHEZZO gives more and more of himself to the record; fitting “My Soul” with an introspective flair few can match. To say the least, this two minute banger is a deep and relatable addition to NOHEZZO’s catalogue. In time, it will have more light shed on Oklahoma than ever before; and this young artist will be at the forefront of that stardom.

Even as Lake Michigan has chilled to a still, and epic winds have seized his city of Chicago, rapper, J1S, nevertheless finds a way to make something warm, wavy and hypnotic. Supported by the likes of O.J. and Sonny Trill, he delivers “Rodeo”; a tranquilizing, first cut from the upcoming “Gipetto” project. Synonymous to its cover-art, “Rodeo” is an euphoric blend of colors and emotions. It is backdropped by a trippy, electric guitar; which glides ghostly about a world of bubbling synths, ambience, and grooving trap drums. A disembodied, electronic vocal gives further depth to the instrumental; washing you in waves of melody and elation. Before long, J1S’s rhymes are the only thing keeping your head above the water. With the trillest charisma and poise fathomable, a hook is served into the mix. One that sends the chilled-out energy of “Rodeo” swirling around you. Yes, J1S has bars; and the performance of O.J. and Sonny Trill on this record is to be equally respected. However, when it comes to creating a energy, emotion, and overall world, through sound alone, this Chicago artist’s talent is incomparable. “Rodeo” is a ride to die for. If it is any indication of what “Gipetto” has to offer, that project will make a tidal wave once dropped.

Here to awaken our spirits with his almighty “Jesus Peace Love Fun” project, is Michigan’s own, Valiant Praize; anointed with versatility and the blessing of musicality. This ten-track effort is ripe with diverse sounds; ranging from the most cinematic, modern-trap, to choir-filled gospel rap, Pop, and tranquil R&B. All of which illuminating with powerful praises of God. The Detroit talent is hard-hitting on the album opener, “Valiant Praize”. As an incredibly theatric progression takes to the background, Valiant Praize, dipped in auto-tune, unleashes a peerless love for Christ on the trap beat. This love only amalgamates as the project courses on, with tracks such as the bubbly “O Happy Day” giving a soulful-rap incarnation to his holy adoration. “Standing In Love” is an acoustic guitar ballad, filled with heart-touching, prayerful bars. The rest of the album is a musical expedition into pure, Christian rap; with Valiant Praize’s lyrics, melody and passionate inflections leading each hymn. “Jesus Peace Love Fun” is a masterful exercise in musical spirituality and unstoppable range. It is an energetic listen for young, Christian adults; and will bring the youth exponentially closer to Christ.

 It’s 3AM and I’m still in your bed / It’s been too long and I’m still in your head,” is possibly the most gorgeous hook you’ll hear this late in the year. It comes courtesy of none other than California-born rapper, Maggy’s Kid; and is his bubbly new single, “I Think I Hate You”. “I Think I Hate You” is a melodic, near-three minute venture into conflicted love by the Los Angeles native; started with a celestial, synth progression. That progression leads into a smooth bounce of uptempo, trap drums; which dribble under Maggy’s’ incoming vocals. Immediately, the now Chicago-based artist dives into the hook, driven by a pop-punk influenced edge that manifests the perfect, heartfelt delivery. From verse to hook, “I Think I Hate You” embodies every facet of a banger; and proves Maggy’s Kid is beyond ready for the mainstream circuit. With his pen, genius in melody, and contagious command of sound, he certainly has more than what it takes.

BIO:  Tramont Isom- also known as Brasko, is inspired by music artists Meek Mill, 2pac, Zero, Tra, and Pimp C. From Omaha, Nebraska, this 21 year old independent artist is committed to being one of the greatest. Born December 22, 1993, Brasko has been rapping since the age of 11. He just recently moved to Georgia in hopes of building his own independent team and to take off with his newest single release titled "Get Money". While his fan base in Nebraska may be a bit larger, his rank in Georgia is slowly topping the charts. While having the opportunity to sit with Brasko, he told us his motivation- "I do this for my brother, Maxwell, who passed away in 2012. He was the only one who believed in me; told me to never give up. So I made a promise." As a young artists, he is determined to not only making good music, but also music that everyone can connect to. He has grown humble in the music world and hungry to work with those he feels share the same dream. He believes that where you are from is highly important, but where you are going is what matters most.
