In January of 2019, Luclover found that his drive to play basketball was gone and that he wanted to take a different path and create music. His parents fully supported this switch and helped him set up a home studio, where Luclover still records. His first single "999" has almost 70,000 views on Soundcloud. A Southern classic for the modern-day— Cam & Chris’s “I Love My Slab” brings every bit of speaker-knocking intensity that you’d expect of a Longhorn anthem. The record is held together tightly by a syrupy soul sample. One that the series of 808s and trap drums behind it, serve well in elevating to a new level of Houston music. Heavily, the legacy of DJ Skrew is felt throughout the record; expressed the greatest in “I Love My Slab”’s pitched-down vocals. Cam’s trilled out, freestyled verses roll smoothly through this banger; signaling the ten-year stretch of this Texan honing his craft, finally paying off. For, he is churning out hits that his entire city and state can get behind. “I Love My Slab” swangs like the doors of the big-bodies it is devoted to; and treads just as nicely through your speakers of choice. With such a boisterous single, following the impressive debut of “I Done Came Down”, and a reported track on the way featuring YG; Cam has an undeniably impactful 2019 awaiting him. Press play, and get in tune with the next hitmaker of Houston, through the ethereal “I Love My Slab”.

An earth-moving synth progression jump starts King Pablo’s “Zombieland”, foreshadowing an unimaginable banger to come. To fulfill that prophecy, the Denton artist hits the mic with a melodic torrent of bars; and after fifteen seconds, this Texan smash is mobile. What King Pablo wants us to know, most of all, with this three minute anthem, is that he is back from the dead. After a four year hiatus, The Lonestar emcee has to resurrected; and his first order of business is giving us a trunk-rattling taste of “Young Rebel”, his upcoming debut. To that end, “Zombieland” is flawless. It features the Southern artist spinning through synths, 808s, and lively trap drums, in a blur of melody and autotune. Both elements swing his rhymes into irresistible territory, making “Zombieland” a track you won’t be able to deny. Certainly, King Pablo has been gone for quite some time. However, with a track like this, he has thrust his palm from the grave, and gripped the Texas rap game.

After wowing us all a while back with their Woah Vada release, “Ghosts In The Machine [Remix]”, Texas’s The Band of the Hawk have returned with another stellar contribution. Gearing up for the unleash of their April 20th album, “Kangol”, the Southern collective offer “Flux Capacitor”: three minutes of abstract, boom-bap bars. The Band’s Noah Archangel and Yeaux Majesty trade a slew of idiosyncratic rhymes over a sampled beat produced by Noah himself. Their flawless handling of the microphone gives “Flux Capacitor” a very East Coast, Golden Era sensation; bolting both artists outside the realm of conventional, Southern Hip-Hop. With such a sparkling, soul-stirring instrumental and broth of eccentric, narrative lyrics, one can not help but feel the influence of MF DOOM, and other ancient, underground legends. Only, The Band of the Hawk prove with “Flux Capacitor” that they have the ability to take their art beyond their predecessors. They are creative; unafraid to challenge the modern sphere of The Lonestar sound, and pave a lane uniquely their own. This fearlessness makes The Band of the Hawk a token we should be vying to protect; and “Kangol” a masterpiece we must anticipate.

Real Gutta Music is Texas’s “Park Side Villain” on his latest LP. Hosted by DJ Precyse, “Park Side Villain Homecoming” is a fifteen track embodiment of The Lonestar State. Top to bottom, minute to minute, this album is bustling with Dirty South sounds; aggrandized by Real Gutta Music’s unyielding, Texan delivery. The opener, “Sic Em” forwards an archaic, Southern bounce, complete with sinister melodies and trunk-rattling drums. The same can be said for “Death Before Dishonor”, “Just Do It”, and “Pedal To The Metal”; all tracks powerful enough to blast you back to the glory days of Southern Hip-Hop. That is not as far as “Park Side Villain Homecoming” goes, however. The Waco rapper makes certain to tap into all dimensions of the Texas sound. “Keep It Player” is a double cup-ready, smoldering cut, empowered by 808s, a soulful chorus, and milky instrumental. Speaking of soulful, the penultimate record, “Soulful” is a golden, sample-heavy boom-bap smash; whilst the last track, “Cross Roads” brings a similar, soul-sampled energy to a modern-trap beat. While nodding towards various aspects of Texas music with these records, Real Gutta Music does each and everyone of them justice through his performance. He never misses a beat on “Park Side Villain Homecoming”; proving with every second of the forty-six minute opus, that so long as he is rapping, the Texas sound will thrive.

16-year-old Alyssa Colón drops another hot single with ‘I’m Gucci’

LONG ISLAND, NY – Alyssa Colón is like many other 16-year-old girls in the world – confident in one moment and then self-doubting in the other. But as the New York-based singer/songwriter grows up and is developing her own unique voice, she’s learning that strength and determination can sometimes mix with vulnerability in the most beautiful of ways. The more she learns this, the more confident she becomes – and it’s that confidence that she wants to share with other girls around the world through her new single “I’m Gucci.”

The single is the latest from one of New York’s hottest up-and-coming young artists. Earlier this year she released the singles “Because of You” and “Blocking You,” both of which have seen some strong success while building her fanbase. This new single is what she considers to be a logical progression in her young career and the perfect song to help her connect more deeply with her fans.

“It’s a song I wrote to help bring positivity and confidence to people, no matter who you are,” she said. “A lot of people say it when they’re trying to represent being good – it’s like saying, ‘I feel confident and can conquer the world.’ It’s also a song I wrote for myself because there are times when I’m not as confident and I look to this song and it reminds me that I’m good. I read this and I’m fine. Others can listen and get the same feeling. Everybody has those times in their lives when they’re not feeling confident. I had one of those when I first started writing this song, and I had to stop and focus on what I wanted to change or what I wanted to do better. And now when I listen to this song it makes me feel confident and helps me regain my confidence back.”

Colón’s unique sound and style are helping her stand out from others within the music industry today. Though young in her career, she said she wants to explore different genres and has had fun creating songs in hip-hop, pop and R&B. She hopes that the diversity she brings to her music will help her develop a fanbase with diverse tastes – so that when she does concerts, multiple people could attend and have fun while at the same time participating in an act of unity, not separation.

“At the end of the day I want people to think, ‘Wow! Who is she? I want to hear more of her!’” Colón said. “I want them to get a vibe of ‘Wow!’ I want them to see that I have a lot of power and I’m not playing around. I’m really here to dominate and be amazing and try to conquer something. I’m after it and I’m really working hard. If someone wants to look up to me, and I want them to look up to how I stay strong and work hard to get what I want. I hope they see me being confident and then they can be confident. I want them to succeed, but they’ll have to practice, practice, practice… I’m only 16 and I’m working really hard for this. But when people see that I’m 16 and doing it, they can know they can accomplish what they want no matter what their age.”

In addition to her new single, Colón will be performing at the Coast to Coast Live Show in Brooklyn on Dec. 15. She’s also working on another single called “Another Level,” which she said should be released in the first quarter of 2018.
